AKTION CLUB: INFORMATION FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS

A program of Kiwanis International, Aktion Club is the only service club for adults living with disabilities. Members work together to make a difference to the world around them. In fact, more than 12,000 members around the world perform meaningful community-service activities—and learn by doing.

Members develop confidence and character as they take on leadership roles in their clubs and direct service projects. They also gain a sense of purpose and personal satisfaction by serving their communities, helping others and discovering their own talents.

CLUB SPONSORSHIP AND ADVISORS

Aktion Club operates in partnership with community organizations and Kiwanis clubs. Within each sponsor, an individual volunteers to serve as an advisor who guides and mentors the Aktion Club members.

  • The facility advisor works closely with the club, is familiar with the organization’s procedures and acts as a liaison between the club, the Kiwanis club and community organization.
  • The Kiwanis advisor supports club members and the facility advisor in all their endeavors and also serves as the liaison between the sponsoring Kiwanis club and the sponsoring organization.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

Family members can support Aktion Club by:

  • Communicating regularly with their relative about what the club is doing during the year.
  • Volunteering to assist with club duties.
  • Sharing their relative’s experience with friends and family
  • Family members are also welcome to participate in Kiwanis One Day—a day set aside each April when all Kiwanis-family club members in a community can get together and perform a service project.
