Once again this year, Aktion Club members have a great opportunity: the AC Tee Contest! Here’s your chance to design the new Aktion Club T-shirt. Put your creativity to work and submit your design for consideration. After all, who better to promote Aktion Club and its values than Aktion Club members?

The winning design will be sold in the Kiwanis Store for a whole year, and the winning designer will receive a free T-shirt. In addition, the winning club will earn a prize of $200! Eligible designs must:

    • Promote Aktion Club. No district, division or club names or mascots.

    • Use three colors or fewer.

    • Be submitted as a high-resolution file. All formats are acceptable.

The deadline for all submissions is May 1, 2014, so start designing your T-shirt today! Once your design is complete, send it to Include your name, club name, district, advisor name, email address and phone number. The international staff will judge the entries. The winning design will be announced in July 2014 at the Training and Leadership Conference in Anaheim, CA.

    A few things to remember:

    • The winning entry will be screen-printed on the front of a white T-shirt.

    • All images should be copyright-free. Please create your own imagery or find copyright-free materials. For ideas, check out Note: Some material from Creative Commons can be used only if you attribute it to the original creator.

    • All submissions become the property of Kiwanis International. Submissions may be uploaded by staff to social networking sites and used during Aktion Club Training and Leadership Conference or other events.

Did you miss the winning design from last year’s contest? Check it out. Keely Grogan from the Joliet Transitions Aktion Club in the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District has the honor of being the first winner of the AC TEE Contest. Keely’s T-shirt will continue to be available in our Kiwanis store until September, 2014.

The Smoky Mountains Aktion Club was very excited to send in their contribution for The Eliminate Project before December 31st. This was the first time we participated.

We tried to raise funds in several different ways. We meet one time per month, and for two meetings, we did ‘Happy Money’ with all of the proceeds going to The Eliminate Project. In addition, we also used the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes, but handing them out on a very limited basis, to get a feel for how it might go on a larger scale. We needed to make sure our members understood the concept of the box. And it is excellent because the back of the box can be shared with the caregivers or the individuals they go to.

Between the two meetings and the boxes, we raised more than US$130. Finally, I also took the calendar we created to our local Kiwanis club. Before going, I had all of our members who created pictures for each month sign their picture. Thus we had an autographed calendar. We sold the calendars for US$35 again with all of the proceeds going to The Eliminate Project. If my math serves me right, US$5.40 per member multiplied by the 37 members is just about US$200; the goal we raised! I also sold three other calendars at the same Kiwanis meeting.

But what makes me happy, is not only the funds we raised. It was also seeing the smiles on the faces of the members as they handed me a box, which may have had pennies in it, but they were so excited to do it. You will see the word JOY in the photo. Our members are doing everything with JOY in their hearts – saving lives through The Eliminate Project!
