  • Club designs award program: earning badges

The Chattooga Aktion Club from the Georgia district has developed an amazing awards program to earn badges for service projects. The badges have been designed by an Aktion Club member and can be displayed on a club's banner. The Chattooga Aktion Club has determined categories for the badges, based on feedback from members and have developed guidelines on how to earn them. The guidelines are:

    • The badges may be earned at any time of the year.
    • In order to earn a badge, a club must complete two projects in a category and complete a badge request form.
    • After the initial badge is earned, the club will earn a star for each additional two projects completed in the same category.
    • There is no limit to the number of stars a club can earn.
The clubs that earn awards are encouraged to have a special meeting to adhere the badges and stars to their club banner.
Badge Categories:  Listed below are the badge categories with one or two suggested projects. Many other projects could fit within each category, so be creative!
    • Environment. Recycling and river clean-up projects.
    • Sports for Social Change. Participating in events that help others (e.g., Run, Walk & Roll Race, Paws for a Cause, Acro for Autism, Grant a Wish).
    • Feeding the Hungry. Food drives for people in need.
    • Helping the armed forces. Making cards and candy bags, and then distributing them to the troops or veterans.
    • Helping the elderly. Organizing performances and parties for seniors.
    • Helping children. Organizing performances and parties for children with disabilities and underprivileged children, and to support the Ronald McDonald House.
    • Helping the disadvantaged. Ringing the bell for the Salvation Army.
