Looking for ways to make the most of Aktion Club Week, March 3-7? Good news: Each day during the week has a theme. Here’s a guide for your club to use as you spread the word and do great things:

Monday: Show Your K in Every Way

Wearing Aktion Club-branded gear is a great start. To create even more visibility for the club, write happy messages or a special Aktion Club greeting on sticky notes and place them in different areas of the host facility for staff members, clients and visitors to see. Make an announcement over the public address system to let everyone know it’s Aktion Club Week.

Tuesday: Kudos to Aktion

Celebrate members for the amazing work they do! Throw a “Kudos to Aktion Club” party. Make it an interactive celebration with activity stations:

  1. Decorate a cupcake. Supplies: Paper plates, napkins, plastic knives and forks, baked cupcakes, icing and sprinkles.
  2. Create an ice cream mash-up. Supplies: Paper bowls, spoons, different flavors of ice cream, syrups, different types of chopped candy, sprinkles and whipped cream.
  3. Take a selfie with a sign that shares your favorite Aktion Club service project. Supplies: A cell phone for photos, homemade or store-bought signs with a dry erase surface, and dry erase markers.
  4. Create a thank you card. Members create cards for people that help with the club, including advisors, officers, other members and family. Supplies: Colorful card stock paper, stickers, markers, glue, glitter, envelopes.

Wednesday: Dare to Care

Aktion Club members show they care about others through service. Consider a service project with one of Kiwanis International’s partner organizations:

  • Reading is Fundamental. Learn what your club can do to inspire the joy of reading by hosting a fundraiser to supply books to children.
  • KidsGardening. Create a plan to start a community garden. KidsGardening.org has resources to help with planting, cultivating and harvesting a garden.
  • Little Free Library. Build a Little Free Library. Find a location for your lending box by talking with organizations your club has a relationship with. Visit the Little Free Library site for ideas on free and affordable books.

Thursday: Kindness in Aktion

Spread happiness throughout your community. For example, create confidence-boosting signs and post them in visible locations in your facility (with permission from facility staff). Examples of sign messaging include: “You can do anything!” and “Today is a new day!” and “Your smile spreads happiness!”

Another idea: Lay happiness rocks near the entrance of an organization your club has a relationship with to give its staff a positive boost! Write inspirational words or phrases on the rocks. Check out a landscaping company or craft store to buy smooth rocks for the project.

Friday: Connect the Ks

Aktion Club Week is the perfect time to connect with other Kiwanis family clubs (K-Kids, Builders Club, Key Club, Circle K International and Kiwanis) to learn about the service happening in your area. Invite local Kiwanis family clubs to participate in a Kiwanis family service fair. Create a display board about their most successful service projects and getting treats to share. Attendees will have fun visiting with other Kiwanians to learn about their projects — and the clubs will get new ideas for service projects and Kiwanis family partnerships.
